Recipe book

Over the weekend I had several of my friends and customers over for a crop weekend. One of my good friends is an expert at the Cricut- I am sure we wore her out with all of our questions and eagerness to learn. This was my project for the weekend. I am going to use this book to hold all the recipes that I cut out of magazines. I cut all the cover pieces and tabs from the "from my kitchen"cartridge.

To make the base of the album I used a composition book that I had the office supply store cut in half for me. see below

Thrift store finds

A few weekends back I visited my sister in a few towns away, we spent one afternoon going to a few thrift stores-It always amazes me the things for sale! I found 2 great finds that cost me a total of $4.31!! First this game, I was on the hunt for more bingo games, but I only found this game. The side of the box say 1964 on it. I have never heard of it, but the inside pieces are cool.
There are several decks of cards with the alphabet on them, not sure what I will use them for, but I am sure they will show up in my mini album kits in the future.

Next up patterns. I found 2 bags of 6-7 patterns for .99 cents! Look how fun the images on the patterns are! Not to mention the patterns inside that are great for flowers, collages and such. Look for these projects coming soon!

You are "Pear"fect

I love this sentiment from the Mayberry Workshop on the go Stamp set-play on words is right up my ally! For the center of the flower I used a canvas badge button that I stamped on-I think it gives the card such a vintage feel.

Patriotic Bike

This card was totally inspired by this card. I just loved the bikes with the flag, reminded me of the 4th of July parade as a kid.
Here you can see how I created the bike in multi colors! I used sponge daubers and tapped them directly on the stamp.
Here you can see how I created the glitter boarder. I used some super sticky double sided tape and Martha Stewart glitter!

Patriotic Sweet Treat

I figured the kiddos, wouldn't really want a patriotic cd, so I created this simple sweet treat for the kids.

Saving CeeCee Honeycut-Book review

OK-I Loved this book!
In fact, I had so many things I NEEDED to be doing, but I found myself heading for a comfy chair with this book instead. Amazon compared it to “Steel Magnolias meets The Help!”, so I knew this book was for me!
For me this book is the story of surviving- not the kind of surviving like "I almost died", but more surviving the things life throws at you.

CeeCee is a 12 year old girl caring for her mother, Camille, who is mentally unstable. Camille wears prom dresses and tiaras all over town, and cant get it through her head that she is not the Onion Queen anymore. Her father is absent much of the time. CeeCee looses her mom in an accident.

CeeCee’s great-aunt, Tootie Caldwell, takes her to live with her in Savannah, Georgia. There are many women who enter her life all for the good!

The story is truely inspiring! Anything live throws at you can surely be overcome-

Patriotic Music

These are some little gifts I will be handing out for 4th of July. I created a CD with patriotic music on it, stamped a label and then made a decorative pocket to hold the CD.
To create the pocket
cut a piece of cardstock 5.5 x 11
score on the long side at 1/4"
score on the short side at 3/4" and 5 7/8"
remove the 1/4" strip on the same side as the 3/4" flap
fold and adhere.

Butterfly Gift Bag

Remember this card from last week? This gift bag is one that would go well with that card. I used a piece of children's dictionary(the definition of butterfly, how cool is that) to add a little contrast to the pink paper and ribbon.

Hostess Gift

Last week I attended a little summer gathering at friends house, I wanted to bring her a special gift-I found this cute little clothes pins with felt strawberries on them and thought of her. She has wonderful strawberry, raspberry, plum and peaches growing at her house and is always sharing her crops.
I just included the the clothes pins in a bag and made a simple little bag topper. I cut the jar and lid with my cricut and added to the topper using foam tape.

It's a Girl-Celebrate

This week I attend a baby shower for a new friend-a lady I met at a new scrapbook club I was invited to. They meet once a month and at this meeting it was a surprise for the new mother to be -since I really didn't know here all that well yet I wasn't sure what she liked, but I knew that a baby girl card with butterflies would do well!
I may also enter this card in the Paper crafts Idol challenge.

Giving it a try-Paper Crafts Idol

For several years Paper Crafts has be holding a compatition based to the hit TV show American Idol. This year I have decided to throw my hat in the ring and give it a try-reason being the grand prize is a cruise-what fun to cruise with other paper crafters. So here is my card I am entering in the contest for the 1st round. The theme is congrats!
Here you can see that I decided to add some paint to my card and chipboard star. I used re-inker and pearl paint. For the card I used a stamp to add the dots to the card-aren't they shinny? And for the star I used a dry brush technique so that it would give the star some texture.
I also chose to layer some embellishments on the star. I used 2 buttons, a brad and then a tiny rhinestone.
Lastly I added some Martha Stewart glitter to some sticker letters and a sentiment that I typed on my typewritter using vintage ledger paper.

If you have time go by the gallery and check out all the great cards-tough competition!

Wedding Bells

Fellow CTMHer, Katy Donaldson is getting married soon-I made this card for her. I choose to use a whole bunch of "vintage sewing type" stuff. I used buttons from my Great-grandmothers button jar, including that super sparkly rhinestone one in the center of the flower. Along with some old jeans I cut up and some lace I got at the flea market.

Sewing Challenge

The Moxie Fab Challenge this time around is a sewing them. For this card I added some canvas, ribbon, seam binding, a button and stick pins-I am hoping I got enough sew related items on here! Ha Ha Ha!
I used a great stamp-Tailor Made from Close to My Heart. It includes the great sewing machine, thimble and button stamps.
I also used some of the canvas paper to create a sort of 'flag' with the sentiment on it. Below you can see how I stamped on the canvas and then frayed the edges some. A big Thanks to Annette Green for showing the canvas paper in her Father's Day Paper Bag Card Video.

Clock Faux Stamps

In yesterdays post I gave you a link to the template for creating your own faux stamps. Below you can see a close up of the accents that I created using the mini gray pearls from Close to My Heart.
And remember these? I am sure you all have a pair of these scallop scissors around, all I did was flip them over to get the faux edge of the main image. You could also do this with a hole punch if you don't have the scissors.

Faux Stamps

I found this template for the stamps! I printed it out and created these fun cake and cupcake images using the masking technique.
Here you can see I used some glitter and markers for fun.
Tomorrow I will show you another faux stamp card and show you how I created the edge decor.
