Golf Score Card holder

This is not a She Art, but I am still adding to the label. I used the same techniques as making the girls, but of course this is a manly project! I was asked to make something to hold a score card for a "best round ever" card. This project was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed making the clouds- I used some think modeling paste and they are very 3d.  I also used a page out of a children's dictionary with the definition for Golf as one of the hills.
ETA: Marie reminded me that Golf is also for women!! I forget that women play too, in my house it's what the men do while the women craft!!
I will be back with cards starting tomorrow!!

She decided she was worth it

This girl was done over the New Year's holiday while visiting family. I brought supplies for my Mom, my Sister and myself to make a project. The thing is- we all had the exact same supplies but no two are alike- it's so wonderful to see. Below is a picture of all 3- it's from my cell phone, so the quality is not the great

She knew she was loved

The last few days of the month I will be showing you some more of my art projects-She Art. You can see more by clicking the label at the bottom of this post.
It's funny, when I start to make one of these girls I have an idea in my head and sometimes even a sketch of what I want them to look like, but they haven't every really turned out like I had in mind.
When I started on her hair it got a bit out of control and it was HUGE--I ended up giving her a head band to help break it up.

Book Review: Treading Water

Love is the last thing on Jack Harrington’s mind when he sets out to meet Andi Walsh’s flight. Recently back to work after spending more than a year tending to his comatose wife, Jack is focused on getting through each day and caring for his three daughters. However, the moment he sets eyes on Andrea Walsh, the interior designer who has come to decorate the hotel his company is building in Newport, Rhode Island, Jack begins to wonder if Andi might be his second chance. After a disastrous marriage, Andi, single mom to a hearing-impaired son, isn’t exactly looking for love, either, but that’s what she finds with Jack. The two embark on a long-distance relationship fraught with challenges as they balance the needs of their children and dueling careers while Jack continues to care for his wife, Clare. Just when Jack thinks his life is once again settled, he is confronted with a new challenge that tests him in ways he never could've imagined, leaving him to wonder if "happily ever after" is in the cards for him.

This book came recommended to me because it was a great story and was affordable after a conversation about the cost of books on the kindle. This is the story of Jack who's life is turned upside down by his wife's attempt at her own life that leaves her in a coma. While reading this book the reasons she took her own life are not know and it bothered me the whole book that it had something to do with Jack.
Jack does his very best to keep his children's life as normal as possible while do everything he can for his comatose wife. After more that a year alone Jack meets Andi and they soon fall in love. From this point on this book gave me anxiety, LOL! Every time I turned the page I was for sure his wife was going to wake up.
Things become very complicated for Jack and Andi as the book progress. The ending turned out perfect, just the way I wanted it to- but I wasn't always so sure it would!
This book did make me do some serious thinking on what I would do in Jack/Andi situation. In fact, I had several serious conversations with others about how to plan for it.

Matchbook card

This card is really a Matchbook! Once again I used the great February Stamp of the Month. To embellish I colored again with markers and then I cut out 3 hearts from the Buzz and Bumble pattern paper, distressed the edges and stapled them to the card!

Home Sweet Home

This tag was inspired by this tag over at the Fabulously Artsy blog. I used the great February stamp of the month. After I stamped the sentiment I used a marker to lightly trace the word sweet-making it pop out!

Wonderful Beautiful Day

Back to my favorite-the square shaped card. Check out Monday's post to see another one. For this card I used the stamp that comes in the Buzz and Bumble Workshop on the Go. The sentiment is so cheery for just about any occasion! I chose to stamp the Beautiful banner in a darker color, trim it out and attach it with foam tape- making it stand out!!

Make it from Your Heart patterns

I have always loved patterns, it makes creating cards so much easier!! I was running low on Thank you cards- you can never have enough of these around. I chose to mass create so I made 3 of each of these cards. I used the Make it From Your Heart pattern book. I used pattern 27 & 28 on page 46 of the book. A few simple stamps and embellishments and tada!!  Two things I love about the book -it contains card patterns and scrapbook patterns -AND it's only $7.95!!!

Hip hip Hooray

I have such a thing for shaped cards-in fact I think my most favorite is this square shape with the curves. It is such a nice size with plenty of room to work on. For this card I pulled out the Art Philosophy cartridge and some of the stamps from the last catalog that match--I paired them with the new paper pack Buzz & Bumble.

Nothing like staying home

The January Stamp of the Month- Has this great quote from Jane Austen!! It instantly made me want to re-read all her great books!!  Oh, Mr. Darcy!!
For this project I had a small plastic box that I recycled from something else. It is the perfect fit for several tea bags-paired with a great tea cup it makes a perfect gift.

Book Review: The Shadow and the Star

THE SHADOW
Wealthy, powerful and majestically handsome, he is a man of dark secrets--a master of the ancient martial arts of an exotic distant land. Scarred by a childhood of shocking degradation, he has sworn to love chastely... but burns with the fires of unfulfilled passion.
THE STAR

Lovely, innocent and nearly destitute, she is drawn to him by a fevered yearning she could never deny -- following her enigmatic "shadow warrior" into a dangerous world of desire and righteous retribution

This book is a sequel to another book, and I really enjoyed 1st book, so I decided to read this one. I have to say that I wasn't as impressed with this book. The story was good and I like reading about Samuel, because his story from the 1st book was so sad.  But the problem I had was with all the Japanese training and fighting. It's just not my thing and I found it rather boring. That aside, the love story between Samuel and Leda was wonderful. I enjoyed how I could tell that Samuel loved her, but he didn't know himself.  The best part of the book for me was the glimpses of Lady Tess and Lord Gryphon from the 1st book-The Hidden Heart.

beep!

Just because the Buzz and Bumble Paper Pack is all about bees does not mean you can "think outside the box". This card is a birthday card, sent to a man turning 81 years old.  He is a friend of the business you could say, a fellow landscaper. Buzz and Bumble features Creme Brulee and Cocoa colors-perfect for a dump truck card. I used the stamp set Fast and Furious--not a typacal stamp to pair with a paper pack about bees!!

You are my Happy

This in another card using the Buzz and Bumble Workshop on the Go. The stamp comes with that dotted bee trail, but it is strait- best thing about clear stamps is that you can curve them to any shape you want, or ONE of the best things. LOL!

Seeds

Spring is in the air here, in January we had many days of warm weather. I know it's not quite time for spring, but one can wish!! This card was created using the images from the Buzz and Bumble Workshop on the Go. In addition to the stamps and paper  I added some of CTMH great burlap ribbon. I carefully cut away the edge of the ribbon and removed one strand at a time, giving the card this great fringed  look!

Home is...

This month's stamp of the month is wonderful. To me the stamp images seem to go so well with the trendy chalkboard signs that we see everywhere right now. On the above image I created just that, a sign. I used one of the images from the CTMH Artiste Cartridge to make a hanging sign.

Buzzing with good wishes

I absolutely adore this Quick cards-Bumble Bee stamp set- for starters it's only $6.95 and of course I love them image of the bee and the vintage feel of it.  I made this card using my cuttlebug honeycomb embossing folder, and a large wooden button as an accent. I can't wait for someone to say they are expecting a new baby or getting married so I can send this card.

Canvas Wall Art and a Card

Using scrapbook supplies to make home decor items is so practical and of course, beautiful! CTMH has a new home decor kit in the newest catalog- This item is a canvas wall art project. I put mine together, but I haven't found a picture to put in it. After I assembled the kit, which only took about 30 minutes, I used the extra chipboard pieces and the stamp set to make a Valentine's Day card!! The best part is I still have a whole sheet of chipboard left to make more projects.!
For my card I used my cuttlebug to make an embossed background, and then I stamped the letters, L, V and E- I finished off the card with some of the chipboard and bling left over from the kit.

Buzz pencil bag

A few months back I found these burlap pencil bags in the dollar section at Target. I bought a couple not really knowing what I would do with them. I decided to make a couple of gift bags, of a sort, out of them. I decorated the front with some paper flowers and the Quick cards-Bumble Bee stamp set. I added some extra touches with the Buzz and Bumble embellishment Assortment.
I filled the little bags with some Burt's Bee's Lotions and they make a perfect gift!
