Thanks card

Happy Halloween Everyone!
Things are starting to get back to normal around here after Charlie's hip surgery. I haven't had much time to create, I did make a few things while sitting up at the hospital, but it was hard to focus.
This card is one that I made for the world cardmaking day contest from Papercrafts earlier this month. I haven't heard anything, but I don't think they notify anyone until sometime next week.

Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits
Alisa Bangerter
This is a perfect recipe to pull out if you are short on time because there is no rolling or cutting. The cheese and garlic add extra kick to a plain biscuit, and kids love them. They are the perfect accompaniment to serve with soups or stews, and are great served with a salad.
INGREDIENTS
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese
1 1/4 c. milk
Chives (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry cutter until mixture is fine. Add cheese and mix well. Add milk and stir until just moistened. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Sprinkle top with chopped dried or fresh chives if desired. Bake at 400 degrees for approx. 15 minutes.

Hoppy Birthday to You....

This is a card from one of my sets for sale in my etsy shop (located on the right side of my blog) . Everything these days is about being "Green" so this card goes along well.
For the square on the back ground, I used the reverse side of a square stamp. I started with dark ink on the outside, and used lighter ink as I moved to the middle.

Dixie Scrapbook Page

I do scrapbook quite often, I just have a really hard time getting good pictures of the pages. He has a really cute recording of Dixie barking, growling and playing with her toy.

Hey There Cupcake

It seems that once I pull out the cupcake stamps, I get stuck on them for awhile. I really like all the clear items these days, from albums to stamps. For this card I used a transparency and embossed it with the cuttlebug folder. The problem with clear projects is they are really hard to photograph. In addition to the embossing, I also glittered the edges with Mod-Podge and prisma glitter. Lastly I made the cupcake icing sparkle! I used the same technique that I used on the snow letters here.

I applies a thin layer of liquid glass using a paint brush, and then I sprinkled glitter over the top. After that dried I use another thick coat of liquid glass.
Supplies from CTMH-Chocolate CS, Blush CS, Colonial White CS, Blush ink, Chocolate ink, Chocolate ribbon, prisma glitter, liquid glass.
Other-transparency, cuttlebug embossing folder, hey cupcake stamp from Stampendous, Mod-Podge

Card set and template info

This cute card set and holder will be my Operation Smile project for October. 100% of the proceeds from this set will be donated to Operation Smile. Along with the project, I will also be providing the template. For a $1.00 donation to Operation Smile, the template is yours! To get your copy of the template, go to http://www.kabrown63.etsy.com/ Once the transaction is complete I will email you a copy. (Be sure to provide your email address)

Halloween Project 12

I have to admit, that this treat holder is from last year, just never got around to posting it. I used some dried branches from the honeysuckle vine in the yard as the handle. I am pleased to say that the handle held up for a whole year. I was sure that it would break or crack because the treat holder was just tossed in a box.

I think this card could work for Thanksgiving as well. For the stripes on the pumpkin, I inked up the stamp, and then I used the end of a paint brush to remove the ink from the stamp. This is one of the many benefits of clear stamps.

Happy Birthday Flower Card & Butterflies

This is a really simple card, using the stamp kissing technique. I inked the circle stamp with the smokey plum ink and then pressed the petal stamp against it using sunflower ink. The nice thing about the the circle stamp is that it is a large background stamp that can be used several times before re-inking.

I also wanted to share with you a few picture that I took this past weekend at the Wildseed Farm in the Butterfly House. On my visit, I also went to the animal safari, and I will show you a few pictures of that tomorrow.

No Copics?

I really, really love the look that the Copic Markers give a project, but I just can't bring myself to buy them. I decided that I would re-visit the water color pencils and crayons. I tend to use the water brush or the colored pencils more often, because of the control. But for blending you can't beat water colors. For this card I used the watercolor crayons and paint brushes. The key to water color is to control the amount of water.

(Supplies from CTMH-White Daisy CS, Moonstruck CS, Sweetleaf CS, Sparkles, Sweetleaf ink, moonsturck ink, Western flourishes stamp set, delight in everything stamp set, Say it with Style stamp set, edge distresser, foam squares
