Weekend Card Challenge
A few weekends back a had 1/2 a Saturday and a whole Sunday to work on whatever I wanted! I decided to give myself a bit of a challenge! I decided to use ONE PIECE OF PATTERN PAPER and the card workshop pattern from the CTMH Wishes book. If you don't have this book I highly recomend it. Here is one of the cards from my weekend creations. I stuck with 3 main colors (Twilight, Hollyhock and Chocolate) with the barn pattern paper from Timberline and colonial white for stamping!

Tissue Paper Challenge:Mother's Day Paper Corsage
I read several of the Paper Crafts blog, they are full of great inspiration. Last week on the Moxie Fab blog, Cath issued a challenge to create a project using tissue paper. In honor of Mother's Day I thought I would make a corsage that Mom could wear to church on Sunday!

2. Cut small squares of Pattern paper (mine are 3/4" x 3/4") and ruff the edges with your scissors and ink the edges.
3. Glue the pattern paper to the cardstock in a random pattern.
4. Attach the pattern paper to the to the chipboard heart.
5. Cut around the heart with a craft knife, ruff up the cut edge and ink.

Pucker Up!
I inked the heart in Cotton Candy and then "kissed" the little x to the heart using black ink. Before I pulled the stamp up a gave it a little twist! After I covered the whole heart in little x's I gave the stamp a quick huff of hot air (just breath some hot air on the stamp to moisten the ink) and then stamped it on my paper! There you have it. Be sure to head over the the Heart 2 Heart blog to see what all the Design team has made. And I will be back with one more project for you as a guest designer for the Heart 2 Heart blog!

In my Craft Room-INSPIRATION STATION
Today though, I thought I would share how I organize and gather supplies for submitting. Once I get the project call email I print it out and read through it very carefully. Making notes and underlining important info. Most magazines are looking for something specific-weather it be a trend, theme or technique. And that's where I start. Lets say that Paper Crafts is looking for projects about Love and hearts. I use what I refer to as my INSPIRATION STATION! I would start by pulling out stamps/stickers and embellishments that are heart and love related and add them to this wooden trey and basket.
Next I add in some trendy items that are very popular right now-for instance dollies, buttons and tape measure strips
Here is thing about working for magazines, it takes alot of pre-planning to publish a magazine. So even though this is my Valentine's INSPIRATION STATION, it is more likely that right now the magazines are more focused 6-8 months away. Meaning even though it is the season of LOVE, your mind has to be set for FALL and HALLOWEEN!!
So create your very on INSPIRATION STATION, even if it's not for working on submissions put together a basket, box or whatever works for you and add some fun goodies to it. You will be surprised how much it will inspire you!!

Loads of Love
Last week while looking at blogs I saw a card with a little dump truck and a bunch of hearts in the back of it. It gave me the idea to make this card. I used the color combo from the Heart 2 Heart blog Challenge. I used a few different letter stamps and my own hand writing to create the sentiment. Be sure to go by the Heart 2 Heart blog and look at the design teams work!Friday, November 19, 2010
