Just a Note

Earlier this month, I did a trade show in Dallas for my Landscape/Irrigation company. A very nice man took us out to eat at a VERY nice steak house in Dallas. I made sure before we left the trade show we had an address so I could send a Thank you card. This gave me the chance to use the tree on the CTMH cricut cartridge.
I decided to use some burlap on the card-in honor of the man who took us to dinner. See he is the sales rep for the company that sales the burlap used on tree root balls when they did native ones! I hope he is impressed with my use of burlap!

Peach Upside Down Cake

A customer gave me a big bag of peaches, and I have been making all things Peach lately! We had peach ice cream, peach salsa and peach upside down cake. I made the Peach upside down cakes in the small loaf pans so that I could share. I used the CTMH Mayberry and the Workshop on the Go Mayberry stamp set to create a little gift for the customer who gave me the peaches. I was insipred by this post and the creative use of the jar.

Peach Upside Down CakeBake:

Cool: 15 minutes

Prep: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups sliced, pitted and peeled peaches or frozen unsweetened peach slices, thawed and large slices cut in half lengthwise
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • I added some chopped pecans as well

Directions

1. Place 1/4 cup butter in an 8x8x2-inch baking pan. Warm in a 350 degrees F oven about 5 minutes or until butter is melted. (Be sure to watch carefully to avoid over browning the butter). Remove pan from oven. Add brown sugar, stirring until sugar is completely moistened. Spread sugar mixture evenly in pan. Arrange peach slices evenly over brown sugar mixture. Set aside.

2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, beat 1/2 cup butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Beat in granulated sugar until well combined. Add egg and vanilla, beating until combined. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to beaten butter mixture, beating on low speed after each addition just until combined. Spread batter evenly over the peaches in the pan.

3. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 5 minutes. Loosen cake from sides of pan; invert onto a large serving plate. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes more. Serve warm. Makes 8 servings.

Door Wreath-Texas Tech

There is no secret that I love my Red Raiders!! Football season is upon us, and I decided this year to create my own door wreath using CTMH products.
I cut the banner and the 3d roses using the CTMH cricut cartridge. I also used some chipboard letters from CTMH and covered them with glitter and Liquid glass.
It's a prefect time of the year to pick up some glittery stems from the Christmas section of the craft store. So what's your favorite team? Make your own wreath using your team colors!!

Make your own

Corrugated is all the rage right now. But what if you don't have any? Create your own faux corrugated accent with kraft cardstock and a paper crimp-er. You can see below that I cut an image with the CTMH Cricut cartridge and then ran it through the crimp-er.
I also used some wonderful rub-ons from the Mischief compliments collection. (wheat images)

A Gift for the Dog Sitter

Over the past weekend I had to do a 3 day trade show in Dallas. That meant leaving my sweet Dixie Dog home with a dog sitter. Becca is a life saver, and she is so good with dogs! In addition to paying her for her time I made her this frame using the 3d flowers from the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. I left the paper inside the frame so you could see that I got it at Micheal's for $1. Turns out to be a great gift.

New crafty business cards

I was in bad need of business cards, but was holding out until after convention to hear what they were going to tell us. After much brainstorming I decided to go with some that I designed myself using my favorite "crafty quotes" on one side it has all my info the other has a bright colored pattern and a quote.
I also order these mini calling cards-great for including in a card or with a special gift.
I ordered from Moo.com, but most all business card places will let you design your own as well.

Card box and Card Set from Art Philosophy Cartridge

I had fun making these! And they turned out so much better than in my mind. I used the CTMH Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to cut the box and the bracket shaped cards. I also used the matching leaf stamp to create the focal point on the box.
Here on the card you can see that I used the pumpkin base and shade stamp called So Grateful. I also used the wonderful Mischief compliments rub-on for the vines and leaf.

Dairy Queen and Dilly Bars

If you live or grew up in a small town in Texas then most likely you had a Dairy Queen in your town. I did and remember it well.
After I finished the book Saving Cee Cee Honeycut, Amazon popped up a recommendation for this book, so I thought I would give it a try because I liked Saving CeeCee so much.
This book is not to bad, it took me a while to get into to it, but by the end I was enjoying it. The store is of a preachers daughter, who can not wait for her 18th birthday so she can get out of her home town and see the world. She is forced to come back home when her father passes away, and it turns out she was meant to be there all along. I enjoyed how she applied the stories her daddy was preaching every Sunday morning to her life, it made me smile!!

Spooky Spiderwebs and Creepy Birds

I love the contrast of the Colonial White Ink with the Barn Red Cardstock. I also really like the Colonial White scallop boarder rub-on, it gives this some what creepy card an more creepy, but elegant look.

This is another card featuring the cute witch from the August Stamp of the Month from Close to My Heart. When I first spotted her in the catalog, I couldn't wait to add some glitter to her!! Her dress is covered in black glitter from Martha Stewart (the best in ultra fine glitter). This card is also new from CTMH-a 6x6 craft card with a scallop flap! They come in a package of 10 and also include 10 envelopes.

Multi colored Image

To get the multi colored stamped image I used several colors of ink and the sponge dauber. Its really easy! One tip, if you are using a large image and several colors, give you stamp a "huff" of hot air to re-moisten the ink.

Feel Better Real Soon

Halloween paper doesn't always have to be for Halloween!! I used the CTMH Mischief paper pack to make a card for my dad, who had surgery last week. Below you can see that I used a new pewter buckle with a wooden button and some hemp to finish off the star accent. I also used the A Typeface stamp set, which you can get for FREE this month when you purchase the Stamp of the Month. Look here for all the details and a video using the stamp set.
