Boyz Rule!

*Clear cards are hard to photograph!* This week the challenge at the Heart 2 Heart blog was an ABC challenge-projects must include alphabets, boy theme and chocolate. How fun is that? I decided to create a clear card using one of CTMH felt monsters for a Birthday card.
I didn't like the location of the rub-ons, so I used a piece of scotch tape to remove them and start over.....the picture sure does show the rub-on residue.

I used a tooth pick to create the stick to hold the sign.

This monster had som black to him, I dis-assembled him. Any ideas what to do with the leftover black parts.

Birthday Journal

I recently was made a trade for a vintage children's dictionary (Thanks, Laura!) and I have been working on this project off and on for a few days. I just love the pages of the dictionary they have cute little pictures on every page. This journal will be for a birthday coming up in October. I made the flowers using satin and a candle flame. I added some big bling to each of them and some felt leaves. I had the metal frame in my stash and I used some sandpaper to sand off some of the paint so that it would match the bling a little better.
I added a butterfly rub-on to a Tim Holtz fragment charm.

Ed Hardy Inspired

I recently came across my purse coluzzle and decided to create a funky purse. I wanted to use the cool scull form this months stamp of the month, so I headed to Ed Hardy for some inspiration. I used the Joseph's coat technique to create the multicolor swirls on the purse. Tresa Black recently did a class on it, and you can see it here. I used Tracy Mason's flower tutorial to make the rosebuds.

My {heart} is filled with many thanks

This week the challenge over at the Heart 2 Heart blog was to get creative with sentiments. I was thinking that maybe a sentiment doesn't have to have 100% words. I was trying to think of all the things that we see everyday that have no words at all, but we know what they mean, like the picture of the woman on the bathroom, or the wheelchair picture for handicap parking, no smoking or no guns. Or my favorite- Peace, Love and Texas Tech!!

Family Ties Card and book review

This card is complex-it has so much going on! For starters, the clouds in the background were so fun to create. I used a cloud shape (cut from the Over the rainbow stamp set by Close to my Heart) as a mask and then sponged blue ink to form the most wonderful light and airy clouds! Next the metal frame-I painted it white and then sanded over it to give it a distressed look. After I created the card, I wasn't sure what sentiment I wanted to put on the card, but I decided that the family ties was just perfect with the birds nest and the eggs.
{ Family Ties Card Supplies}
Cardstock: Sky, Colonial White, Bamboo (Close to My Heart)
Pattern Paper: Manufique (Close to My Heart)
Ink: Sky, Bamboo, Colonial White, Pacifica, Chocolate( Close to My Heart)

This book was WONDERFUL! I am thinking of reading it again just because I loved it so very much. This is a story that spans over many, many years of the lives of several women in one family. The story begins in the 1900's with a little girl left on a dock with no family or any idea what her name is. That little girl grows up and discovers she is not who she had thought and want to know where she came from. She passes away and it is up to her granddaughter to finish the the story of her grandmothers life.
As the story jumps from the 1900's, to 1975 and then to 2005 and back again each time leaving tiny clues as to what has happened.
I would stay up late into the night reading this book, just because I need to know what would happen next.
The book is over 500 pages, but so easy and wonderful to read!
NOW DON'T FORGET THE CONTEST GOING ON. LOOK BELOW TO FIND OUT HOW TO WIN ALL THOSE GOODIES!

You warm my Heart

I am so glad September has finally arrived! I have been doing my best to keep all the new stamps sets and products from Close to My Heart under wraps as best as I could. I think with Convention and the extra month of pre-view it has been really hard for me. This is my card for this week's color challenge over at Jeanette Lynton's Blog. At first I loved the color combo, and then after trying to use it I found it hard to add the Pear color in. I think it works well with just a little bit of the Pear. I am also really proud that I {Me} made that flower!! I have seen them here and there, and I must say that I may be addicted!
ETA: I missed Tresa show last night, but just watched the recording and she made a flower like this (her's is much more fancy)!! If you want to learn how to make a flower like this click here-she is a wonderful teacher!
