Baby horse and some info

1st I want to answer a few questions-I have been asked about the cards for the troops. I have a very good friend whose son is stationed in Iraq and I am sending him the cards to distribute among his unit. His name is Cody, and he is in the Army. I just sent off a package today with 94 cards(about 1/2 were 4th of July, the rest were a mix of BD, Baby, Wedding, Blank and Thank-yous) along with snacks, drink mixes, chap stick, magazines, sunscreen and snuff. Cody put the cards out in a "common area" for all to have. If you would like to help with the card project email me at kabrown63@hotmail.com and I will send you my address and include your cards in my next package.

2nd I am getting lots of comments about what product I use, and I will do my best to try and post the supplies along with my pictures. I don't do it now mostly because I am lazy--and I usually blog before I go to the office in the morning and I have limited time, because I wake up late about 85% of the time.

3rd Any time you have a question, just email me and I will answer. I am bad about checking the comments on older posts, because again, I am lazy.

Now for the baby horse-My neighbors mare had a baby, his name is Storm (because he was born the night it was storming) He is a week and few days old. I think he is just a cute as he could be, and in a house full of little girls he is sure to be spoiled. His mom is really protective, she was giving me some trouble during my photo shot. (PS, the other mare in the picture is pregnant too, so I they will have another baby in a few weeks.)

Golf Father's Day

Here is one more Father's Day Card for the Troops-I had bought the green ribbon at Michael's last year in a bin that was one dollar a role. I think it still had 23 yards on it, needless to say I made lots of these.

Grand Dad

I made lots of these last month for the troops. Some said "Grand Dad" and others just "Dad".
Check back for the next few days I will have some more ideas for Father's Day.

Cupcake

Lately I have been obsessed with cupcake stuff, you see it everywhere. Although I want to buy it all, I usually have control. Until this weekend at a scrapbook store-I found a cupcake stamp that I just had to have. What is your favorite cupcake item?

Critters Birthday Card

Are they critters? Maybe critters are furry, and this should be called "Creepies Birthday Card" either way I just think they are too cute.

Happy Birthday

Sometimes when I create cards for the Soldiers, I try to create something very simple that can be recreated fast and easy.
I made about 25 of these last night before Grey's and ER.
It may be hard to tell, but the balloons are covered with liquid glass.

File Folder Pocket booklet (Keynotes)

Here is what you will need. (Plus scissors and sewing machine or ribbon, twine, sassy strands)
These are file folders from CTMH (Fancy Cut File Folders) the medium size.
Click the picture to make it larger. ( please note that the inside score marks are just for a guide when sewing. If you use ribbon or sassy strands you may not need these lines)

I attached all the folders one at a time on the lines

Here is what it looks like when all the folders are attached
Now you see the reason I created a spine cover for the book. My sewing skills lack!!!

Corner round all 4 book corners (optional)

I used a circle punch to make the indent area.

The spine is 2 x4 and then I scored on 1/2" and 1.5"

I made the pockets by using assorted size pattern paper and attaching them with liquid glass

Decorate your pages and make inserts ( I used mini tags)

Here it is some what flattened out so you can see all the tabs.

Rain!!

I don't have any new art to show you, but I am working on some, so stay tuned!! In the meantime I thought I would show you the flooding in front of my office. We had 4"of rain over the last 2 1/2 days. My office is right inside that door!! Thank goodness Charlie put some old pieces of sidewalk on the the side a few years ago, or I would need a boat to get to work!! Maybe it's time to pull out my pink rain boots!!

A wonderful world

This is a simple card that I created to send to the troops that I made about 15 of. I really like the edges of the colonial white cardstock in the chocolate ink, I like it so much because of the ink pad. I have a very old one that I have never re-inked, and it gives this soft edge for distressing. I am just wondering how long it will go before it has to be re-inked?
On a side note-if anyone would like to donate cards to the troops I will be glad to send them for you. As stated in the past, I have a good friend whose son is stationed in Iraq. He is taking the cards and setting them out for all of the soldiers in his Army unit. For a fee of course, I send all kinds of goodies with the cards, but the most loved is the snuff and chapstick!!
Email me at kabrown63@hotmail.com if you want to help out!
Right now I need Birthday, Blank, Thank-you and 4th of July.

Flap Card holder directions

Here is what you will need. (plus scissors) That's a plate in the corner, but you could use anything round.

Cardstock is 12x7. Click the picture to enlarge.

Use the plate or something round to trace the side opposite the 2 close together score marks.

Trim away with knife or scissors

Use super sticky tape to attach flap.

Add magnets for a closure.

Here's what you get when you decorate it. Make some matching cards to go inside.

Thank you Sparkle!

I visit Sparkle's blog often, and I always comment on how cute I think here moose cards are, so she was so sweet and sent me some images of my very own. After I started working on this project I decided I was going to need a few more images, and before I begged Sparkle to send more, I had an idea to run cardstock through my printer and see if I could copy them. Well it worked!!

I am working on the step by step directions for this card holder, and promise to have it posted later this afternoon.

Happy Birthday with circles

This card was inspired by an add I saw in a magazine for a dishwasher. The colors are a little more bright in person. I think this card idea would work with circle stamps too.

Give this a try with chipboard or stamps and post a link to your card!
