This was a wonderful story!
The Duke of Jervaulx was brilliant and dangerous. Considered dissolute,
reckless, and extravagant, he was transparently referred to as the ′D of
J′ in scandal sheets, where he and his various exploits featured with
frequency. But sometimes the most womanizing rake can be irresistible,
and even his most casual attentions fascinated the sheltered Maddy
Timms, quiet daughter of a simple mathematician.
The Duke in this story has what we now call a stroke, but long ago stroke victims were thought crazy. The Duke ends up in an insane asylum for a short time. The author does a really great job letting us know how the duke feels, but because of the stroke he cant speak well. Maddy sees this and saves him. Not only does she save him for the insane asylum but she also saves him from his self. The story has a nice twist at the end and I really was caught up in this story and didn't expect it! This was a real page turner and I highly recommend it!
