Operation Smile Silent Auction Project

A couple of months before Convention I was asked to make a special project for the Operation Smile Silent Auction. It was such an honor to be asked, and I couldn't turn them down. After a week of thinking on what I wanted to make-I decided on a Magnet board. A REALLY LARGE MAGNET BOARD! (Although this picture shows the project up and down, I designed the project to hang long ways on the wall.) Keep in mind a great place to display scrapbook pages or cards!

Getting a good picture of this project was a real challenge-Size and glare were causing a problem. If you got to see it, then you know that it was much nicer in person.

You should have see the GIANT box that I shipped this sucker in! Lucky I work were we ship packages everyday. It was well package, overnighted and insured for lots of money (I learned from UPS if a package is insured for more than $5000 they take VERY GOOD care of it). So this magnet board was hand carried from place to place!

I purchased the sheet metal at the hardware store and had a custom frame built for it. I decorated it with cardstock and pattern paper squares and covered them with Mod Podge. Added some large flowers and felt accents. Created a few matching magnets (I laminated those so they would last with lots of handling)

This is a terrifically unique idea and one my girls would probably love to have hanging in their room for all their must display artwork and such. I can't imagine just how big and awkward it must have been to ship! LOL I hope it raised lots of money for you!

This is beautiful!!!! I kept bidding on it but someone else got it. It would have looked awesome in my scrap basement. And I was so happy to have met you, you are a sweetheart.

You did a great job on your magnet board. I loved the extra large size of it. Using the squares to cover the edges gave a great look, and the colors are so fun. That was one of the first pieces of artwork we saw when entering the Silent Auction room, and it was very impressive.

Aaron,
My heavens, this is amazing!!! I LOVE it! It's unique, very well planned and excellent craftwork! I love the colors and the idea of the magnets! I can see it just covered in all sorts of special things - hanging at my house (in my dreams!)

You are so good to do this for the Operation Smile project!

The pictures do not do it justice: the board is absolutely beautiful in person! Great work!
