Birds of a Feather

I do find time to scrapbook ever so often. This is a recent page I did of my Sister and I . The pictures were taken at Thanksgiving with Halloween glasses. It's hard to tell, but I put prisma glitter and liquid glass on her glasses. I used gold slick paint for my Elvis glasses.

Plain FOR YOU

I cut the base for this card for a different project, and then decided not to use it! It laid on my work table for a day before I came up with this card. The flower is a die cut that I embossed with clear embossing powder and then inked over. I made the flower a while back when I made this card. The extra flower had been laying around for awhile.

CPS Sketch

Here is a sketch for this week and I haven't done one of these in so long. To tell you the truth, I have been pre-posting on my blog for a while. I have been feeling like I am really busy, and pre-posting on Sundays for the entire week takes a load off. But when I try to think what has is keeping me so busy I cant think of one single thing!!! I would like to do more sketches, color challenges and things of that sort, but I for some weird reason if I don't get them done and posted that same day I feel like a slacker. So I am going to try and do more, post them when I can and stop feeling like a slacker!
This is the sketch from CPS for this week. I made this for my Photography Class instructor. The class is over, and it is the best thing I have done in along time. If you have any interest in improving your photography skills I would definitely give this class a try, you wont be disappointed.

Valentine's Week project #9

This is a card I made awhile ago for Papercrafts magazine. The theme was love quotes if I remember correctly. (I think it is a feature in the current issue of Papercrafts). I used the cracked glass technique for this. Cover the image with liquid glass. After the liquid glass has dried completely, stick it in the freezer for a few minutes. Remove and carefully snap the liquid glass into pieces.

Valentine's Week (Lubbock Unit meeting)

This is another treat box or sack for Valentine's Day. It's know as the 2,4,6,8 box. I got the directions here. The great thing about this project is that it makes use of the CTMH markers and your get the same affect as the Copic markers. The key to blending with the CTMH markers for me is WATERCOLOR PAPER! Because they are water-based it is easy to blend and shade if you have the correct tools.

Valentine's Week

There are 2 post today! Be sure to scroll down and learn how to win a free planner!!

It's funny, just as soon (or sometimes even before) we as crafters start thinking of the next big holiday to create for. Before Christmas was over, I had 95% of these projects done. This is a sweet little treat box. I ordered the clear boxes from clearbags.com. They have all kinds of sizes and shapes. It may be hard to tell, but I used white staz-on and stamped directly on the box.

January Operation Smile Project

ETA: I forgot to load the template on etsy this morning. Opps. It's there now!

This months project for Operation Smile is a 2 drawer card holder. Each drawer will hold 3-4 standard size cards and envelopes(depending on the thickness of the cards). In addition to cards you could also use the drawers to hold office supplies or create several stacks of them to hold craft supplies like chipboard letters or other small items. The possibilities are limitless!
You can find more information about the template at http://www.kabrown63.etsy.com/
100% of the proceeds from this template will be donated to Operation Smile.

Here is a view with the drawers open.
I want to take a moment to Thank all of you who have purchased templates for Operation Smile. It make me happy to know that together we are helping to SET A SMILE FREE!!

Mushroom Thank you card Set

Mushrooms are everywhere, and they are growing on me. The more I see them the cuter I think they are.
This is a set of 4 simple Thank you cards and a "envelope" holder. This top picture is of the holder all closed up. It's hard to tell, but the small white rectangle is shimmery. I painted over it with pearl paint before I stamped it. I learned how to do that here.
On a side note-We got to the part in my photography class on White Balance. So no more blue colored photos-I hope!!!
Supplies from CTMH-
White Daisy CS, Tulip CS, Bamboo CS, Bamboo ink, Bamboo marker, Tulip Marker, Dream Big stamp set, Kanji Phrases stamp set, Pearl Paint, Envelopes, White Daisy Ribbon, foam squares
Other-mini envelopes

Here is a picture of the holder and one of the note cards and envelopes. To see the pictures larger just click on them.
To get the different colored mushrooms (the stems and caps) I simply colored the stamp with CTMH markers!
Below you will see how the cards fit into the holder.

Here is a list of what you need and their sizes.

Here is a close up of how to create the holder.

Ms. Gardener

Now I have never been a big fan of the people looking stamps, but I couldn't resist this one. Me being the landscape designer and plant person just fell in love with the Ms. Gardener stamp set!
All designs are from the CTMH Originals Book
Supplies from CTMH-Boom-di-ada paper packet, Hollyhock ink, black ink, Olive ink, hollyhock marker, olive marker, buttercup marker, autumn terracotta marker, blending pen, colored pencils, staz on black ink, liquid glass, edge distresser, olive buttons, Ms. Gardener stamp set, friendship letters stamp set, Olive ribbon
Other-water color paper, bind it all, chipboard

These two journals are gifts. I had a stack of 3x8.5" white cardstock left over from another project, and decided to bind them together and make mini note pads.

P.S.-I pre-posted this today because I have jury duty today. Do you think if I tell the judge that I have new stamps and they need to be used right away, that he will dismiss me?

One of a kind STAR

The minute I spotted this star stamp set in the new CTMH catalog, I thought of so many ways to use it. This was the first that came to mind. The thing I like about this card is that even though it is pink all I would have to do is change up the colors for a boy, manly or neutral card. It may be hard to tell, but the black star has glitter on it, making it even more one of a kind!
Supplies from CTMH-Pattern paper from Notebook, Black CS, Colonial White CS, Hollyhock CS, Hollyhock ink, Black ink, sponge, Black brads, foam squares, prisma glitter, Code it stamp set, Simple stitches stamp set, wishing star stamp set.

Mini Serving tray & FREE template

This is one of the many projects that I worked on New Years Day. I had intended for it to be my Operation Smile project for January, but the template was so simple I just didn't feel like buyers would be getting their moneys worth. So I am offering up the template and the directions for the umbrella and skewer for FREE!

And just so you know-I came up with a great Operation Smile project for January. I will post that later in the week!

Here is an up close of the mini serving tray. I used a chipboard bookplate cut in half as the tray handles.
All supplies from CTMH-Chocolate CS, That's amore pattern paper, chocolate ink, Blush ribbon, chipboard bookplate, pretty pin, blush ric-rac, Cello bag
Other-chipboard

Here is the same tray, only I added office supplies instead of treats.
Supplies from CTMH-Outdoor denim CS, Serendipity paper, Outdoor denim ribbon, fancy cut tags, outdoor denim ink, For every occasion stamp set, Sans alphabet stamp set
Other- chipboard

For both projects I used a scrap of chipboard and added to the bottom of the mini serving tray to make it stronger.

For a larger view of the template and instructions just click on it. You can also save it to your computer and print it out. If for any reason you can't see or view the template and instructions, just send me an email to kabrown63@hotmail.com and I will send you a PDF file of the info.
