Golf Thank You

Golf thank you cards are a must in this house. I made a few of these for Charlie to send out for his birthday gifts.
I really thought the blue paper was moonstruck (from my scraps) and it matches the ink well, but now that I see it in the lighting of the camera it is dutch blue.

Happy Fall

I have had this card for awhile, mostly because I think if I mailed it the sticks would fall off. I used real sticks from my yard, and I also used every type of adhesive I had and they are just not that secure. I think it is due to the odd, curvy shape of them. I pull the card out often, and I just love it. So I guess It will just sit on the shelf for display.

Card Sketch

It certainly has started feeling like fall here in Texas. I have to wear pants to work, and I have been using the heater under my desk. The morning are very cool, but by afternoon it has warmed up quite a bit.

Here is my card for this weeks CPS sketch. I used the color emerging technique for this card. I really do enjoy fall colors, they are so warm and rich.

Yeehaw! Way to Go!

I love western stamps, especially this cowboy. Reminds me of my days at Clarendon College. (Yes, I also have a degree in Ranch and Feedlot management. You might even catch a picture of me on this site! But no laughing at my choice of clothing, I loved those bright yellow pants!)
This card also has stamp kissing. I used the fence stamp to kiss and twist on the Yeehaw.

Kiss and Twist

All the cards that I am showing you this week were for Papercrafts-Stamp It! Cards. Of course these didn't make it in, but I did get 2 cards in the issue, so look for that February 09!
The star on this card was done with the Kiss and Twist method. I inked the star with the twilight ink and the retro circle with chocolate ink. After I did the kiss and twist with the star, I stamped the retro circle on the background of the card. This also gave an interesting pattern. I did sew on this card with the machine, and I left all the strings for a distressed look.

Happy Birthday Card

I have lots of stickers from CTMH around here, and I find that I don't use them very often. I watched this video, and decided that I pull some out and used them. Here is what I came up with. I used the boarder stickers to make my own pattern at the bottom of the card.

Operation Smile Mini Card Set

One of the great things Close to My Heart has done is to pledge solely to Operation Smile.
My goal is to raise enough money to provide 3 "Smiles" this year that will change the lives of children forever. I will be making at least one project per month and selling it at my etsy store. 100% of the profits from these select items will go to Operation Smile. Along with the project I will also be providing the template for a 1.00 donation to Operation Smile. Together we can make a difference.
To buy this project or the template to make a project of your own visit http://www.kabrown63.etsy.com/

This is a Mini card holder and four 3x3 cards and envelopes. They will be great for gifts, lunch bags or little notes around the house.

Mini Album

I created this album to show off some of the pictures that I have been taking of Dixie with my new camera. I took some picture of the process so you can make one too! Enjoy!
Cardstock size is 9x9" (but you could do this with any size squares) You need 3 sheets of pattern paper. Score at 2.25 on two opposite ends of the paper. Fold and score to the center.

Score all the folded sheets in the center at 4.5"

Punch holes in the book for binding. I used the crop-o-dile and punched all at the same time so the holes would be even.

Use fibers and ribbon to bind the book.

Some of the pages are made up of the 2 folded in sides of the paper, use squares of cardstock to close up the pages. This also creates a photo mat. I made mine 3.75x3.75" square.

Pockets for the pull out tags.
Supplies from Close to MY Heart-Serendipity pattern paper and die cuts, Out door denim CS, Chocolate CS, Bamboo CS, Dutch Blue CS, pewter conchos, Out door denim ribbon, Colonial White ribbon, Bamboo photo arrow, Outdoor denim bigger brad, Dutch blue sassy stands

We used lots of different things from paint, pearl paint, liquid glass, rub ons, etc. Too much too list, if you want to know about something just email me, and I will try to answer your questions. Now it just needs to SNOW so I can put some pictures in it!!!

Real baby animals & a card for the troops

We have been riding bikes every evening, and we have been passing this house with all of these baby animals. On Monday night I decided to bring my camera along and take some pictures. I will tell you the baby goats were full of energy and being very naughty!! The rooster was clearly in charge of all the animals, from the chickens, goats and even the horses.
I whipped out about 30 of these cards for the troops after I made the card from yesterdays post. If you would like to help with the cards for the troops, email me at kabrown63@hotmail.com for more information.

Smile sketch card

Here is this weeks card for the CPS sketch. I wasn't a big fan of this color combo in the new CTMH catalog, until I made this card. I now LOVE it, does that surprise you? I think I learn to love every single thing CTMH comes out with.

Garden Layout for the Album Contest

Here is a page from my Convention Album. I printed the pictures B&W, and then I just used chalk to add color to the veggies. No fancy computer program, just many layers of chalk!
Click the picture to make it larger.
**ETA** I did print the pictures at home on my hp printers. I have also done this with pictures that I have had developed by shutterfly.***

Birthday card & answers to your email questions

This is a really simple card, I think it took less than 5 minutes to make.
Supplies from CTMH-Colonial White CS, Chocolate CS, Pansy Purple Ink, Chocolate ink, pewter bitty brads, Celebration bouquet stamp set, edge distresser
Supplies from Paper trey ink-take a bough stamp set
To answer a few questions about my new table-
Yes, I did have it special made. (and it almost didn't fit through the door!)
The top cover is Formica in a stone color. On one side I added a sewing tape measure, so I can measure out ribbon for my classes.
It measures 60x30, and I am not sure what the measurements on the one from Pier 1 were.
I will try to post more pictures later of my whole room. (I really want to change it up to a pink cupcake, candy and very "girly" room, but until we find a new location for all of Charlie's Marine Corp stuff I am stuck with the flag theme.
Lastly, I am super excited, I got in to Karen Russell's photography class!! It filled up in 2 minutes. I was typing like a mad woman. I can hardly wait!

New Table

It finally got painted and move in!! Yeah!! For those of you that know about Pier 1, this table is modeled after a table they use to carry. This one has be simplified down, and cost less than theirs. I LOVE it!!
Sorry for no post yesterday, I had my Open House this weekend. And then of course I had to finish cleaning and organizing for my new table!

Card Sketch for CPS

This weeks sketch from CPS was to choose a sketch from the past. This is the sketch that I chose. I chose it because I wanted to use my new Nestibilities that I got at Hobby Lobby. The card base is a coin envelope that folded in half and cut off the flap. This makes a cute little pocket in the back part of the card. I created this pull out tag for the pocket.
Supplies from CTMH-Colonial White CS, Indian Corn Blue CS, Indian Corn Blue Ink, Barn Red Ink, Olive Ink, Vineyard berry ink, Bamboo ink, chipboard ribbon slide, Thankful greetings booking set, pewter concho
Other-colonial white ribbon, nestibilities

Butterfly Card #2

Like I said, I am on the Butterfly kick again. Funny thing about this card is when I showed it to Charlie and asked him what he thought it was, he wrinkled up his nose. So it either doesn't look anything like a butterfly or Charlie has zero imagination!
Moving on, I did get my table yesterday, problem is it needs to be painted. I could have swore that the builder and I discussed it being white, but he claims that he told me that he doesn't paint. Oh well, it's out in the shop, and I love it!!! When I got in from work last night I spent the rest of the night re-organizing my craft room and vacuuming. You would not believe the amount of dust bunnies, dog hair, brads and tiny scraps of paper that accumulated behind stuff. Yuck!
