Book Review: Game of Thrones

I can't believe I waited so long to read this. My to read list is very long, and I kept skipping over this one.    I kept hearing how good the series was and I kept saying I just didn’t read fantasy. Then there was my friend who said: “Its fantasy and it is not fantasy. Yes, there are dragons and a little bit of magic here and there.  It’s perfect for you considering how you love historical fiction. How you love knights and castles and a good war.” And she was right! When you have the historical background it is easy to see the similarities and even marvel about the genius that Martin actually is in his writing.
I loved the fact that the book is written from different points of views. It never gets boring that way. Although I was flicking through the pages to see when my favorite characters had another chapter coming up. Lucky for me I had lots of favorite characters. Although I have to admit that I am head over heels in love with John Snow.
After I finished the book I watched season one of the show! I will say that I was impressed with it. Nothing is ever as good as the book, but I am so glad I read it before I watch.

Tin of Tags

 

One more of the MANY projects I made using the Chalkboard paper with this tin of tags. I wanted to create some tags that could be added to a birthday package that would make the reciepant feel special! What I did was leave a space between HAPPY and BIRTHDAY so I can write a number like 15th or 41st!!

After I made those I just couldn't stop- I added some assorted twine on some mini wooden spools, a piece of chalk and a few other items like ribbon and washi tape!

 

February 14th

Using the Chalkboard paper and the white pigment ink on this card was the perfect way to show how to distress the edges of the chalkboard paper to give it that authentic chalkboard look!
And using the Frosted paper pack for Valentine's cards or projects is a great idea, stepping away from the normal pinks and reds is fun!

Day to Day Stuff

This month my featured item for my technique class was Chalkboard paper from CTMH. I had so much fun creating with this, in fact I used 2 whole sheets and went wild. I will only be showing you a few of the MANY items I made using this special paper here on the blog!
This is a small clipboard I got in the dollar section of the office supply store. This now hangs in my laundry room by the door to the garage so I can write down stuff that I don't want to forget and clip import items to remember to get as I go out the door!

3 scoops kind of day

This card is from my Washi tape Technique class- with this card I showed my group that you can color CTMH washi tape with your markers. I used a Blush marker to color the pieces of washi tape that I added to cardstock.
I printed the sentiment on my computer.

Hello Today

Here are a couple more cards from my Washi tape technique class. Banners are simple with washi tape, it's easy to fold them just right or adjust them as you go. For the 3x3 card I used the Washi tape as a mask. Because of the low stick it was easy to remove the tape after I applied ink with a sponge.

The Viewfinder

 When I first looked through the Fall/Winter 2013 catalog from CTMH I was instantly drawn to the Reel Life Stamp set. As a kid I remember the Viewfinder, I don't think we had one, but my cousins did.
