For this project I glued together 3 craft envelopes. I then cut out an assortment of tags from the CTMH Artiste Cartridge. I used the stamp set from the Whoo's your Valentine Special to decorate the the tags and the cover envelope.

Cards that tuck

Awhile back I saw this video on My Craft Channel by Heidi Swapp- I just love all the cards and the concept of cards that stayed closed/tucked. These are my recreations of what she made. I also have a new found love for my cuttlebug- I recently got several new embossing folders some that you can see here. A zebra print and the latices work.

Book Review: The Black Lyon

Darkly handsome and rich beyond imagining, the bold English conqueror was called Lyon for his-lion like fierceness. He had no match among enemies, or women ... until he met Lyonene, the green-eyed beauty whose fiery spirit matched his own. Through a whirlwind romance and stormy marriage, she endured every peril to be by his side... until jealousy and vicious lies drove her across the Irish Sea and into grave danger. One man could save her -- only the fierce Black Lyon had the courage to destroy the ruthless plot that had driven them apart and threatened the bond of love they had vowed could never be broken.

I liked this book OK, I had a real problem with the jealousy. Ranulf is a very handsome man and he meets Lyonene, falls for her instantly. They become married and then he becomes jealous of every man who even looks at her. So much that he decides it's too much to handle and he doesn't want to be married to her any more. Lyonene has other plans and those plans get her into dangerous situations. The adventure in this book is great, but I had a hard time with Ranulf being so jealous, it was hard for me to look past.

Gift Bag

One of the best features of the CTMH Artiste Cartridge is all the bags you can cut. This one is super fun. I added some CTMH burlap ribbon and a flower embellishment to finish it off.

Good Times

These three cards were made using the Clementine Workshop on the Go. The kit comes with some great flower images and I really like the sentiment "Mama said....". I used the same pattern for all 3 cards, just rotated each time.

When life give you lemons....

This cute little project is made with the Artiste Cartridge from Close to My Heart. For the box I used a transparency sheet to cut it out and then I used the Clementine pattern paper for the lid and the bottom. If filled the box with some lemon candies. The image is stamped with Smoothie ink and then colored with the new CTMH Alcohol markers.

She believed she could so she did

How do you like my Apron? For this girl I used more paint and fabric rather that paper and stamps. She happens to be inspired by friend over at OutlanderKitchen.com. This is kind of how I imagine her in the kitchen when she is dreaming up all those great recipes!!

No one ever became poor by giving

This project is not really a girl, but my most favorite of the canvas's I have created. I love Santa's beard- I used some CTMH rosette ribbon. I can't take full credit for the idea I spotted a Santa on Pinterest with this exact saying on it and had to put my own spin on it.   I have one more of these project to show you and I will post that tomorrow,

Book Reviews: Three to get Deadly & A Trail of Fire

Trenton, N.J., bounty hunter and former lingerie buyer Stephanie Plum becomes persona non grata when she tracks down a neighborhood saint who has failed to show up for his court appearance. While questioning admirers of the man nicknamed Uncle Mo, Stephanie is attacked and knocked out as she cases his candy store. She comes to next to the dead body of her attacker, who turns out to be a well-known drug dealer. Suddenly, she can't avoid stumbling across the bodies of dead drug dealers: one in a dumpster, one in a closet and four in the candy store basement. Stephanie suspects that mild-mannered Mo has become a vigilante and is cleaning up the streets in a one-man killing spree. But when she's repeatedly threatened by men wearing ski masks, she wonders if Mo has company and just might be in over his head.

I enjoy reading this series, it's light and and easy to read. I like the adventures that Stephanie finds herself in. In this book it seems that everyone is shooting at her. In this book she seems to have a sidekick in the hooker, Lula- and she makes me laugh! Stephanie also finds herself again in a somewhat relationship with Joe Morelli- although neither of them seem to realize that they are in a relationship. Rex the hamster also makes it through another book unharmed (although he had a close call with almost being pumped full of drugs to teach Stephanie a lesson.)

This book contains 4 short stories that fit in with some of the minor characters in the Outlander series.
2 of the stores I had already read, but 2 were new to me.
1st was A Leaf on the Wind, this is the story of what really happened to Roger's parents Jerry and Dolly- it takes place during WWII and fills in some of the mysteries from the 7th book in the series Echo. If you haven't read Echo yet, then dont read the rest of this post and don't read this short story until you finish Echo.
Claire mentions in Echo that her 1st husband Frank had wrote her a letter about a pilot who just went missing on a very special mission.  Turns out this pilot happen to be Roger's father, and he disappears because he time travels back in time. Roger thinks his father never makes it back, but a surprise ending that you will want to read for yourself tells a different story. Of course I love everything DG writes, and this just ads to the list. The characters she writes about feel like old friends to me, even the minor ones.
2nd of the stores is The Space Between
This novella deals with Joan MacKenzie (Laoghaire MacKenzie’s daughter by an earlier marriage, and Jamie Fraser’s step-daughter) and with Michael Murray (son of Ian and Jenny Fraser Murray, elder brother to Young Ian Murray), in which Michael, a young and newly-widowed wine-merchant, takes on the responsibility of seeing Joan safely to the convent where she proposes to take up her vocation as a nun.
The story was very Si-Fi- on a whole I would never pick a Si-Fi book. Now I know that DG's book do deal with the Si-Fi of time travel, but to me that's just the means to get the characters where they are going. It's such a small part of the whole story that I just don't think the Outlander series as a whole fits in the Si-Fi category.
But because this was a short story it was the main focus. Joan and Michael run into an old charter from one of the earlier books-who I always thought was dead, but in this story it explains how he lived. He kidnaps Joan thinking she is someone else who can time travel. He wants here to help him get to a different time, but of course because she can't Time travel she has no clue what he is talking about and how to help him. Michael sets out to rescue her- and I think he a wee crush on Joan the soon to be Nun.  This story still leaves a few unanswered questions, but makes me even more excited from the next books!

She sang with all her heart

For my next project I decided to challenge myself with something a little more 3D- I decide to use an old cigar box that I had laying around. After I finished the box I used some black satin fabric to line the inside.  I used a picture of a friend who has gorgeous hair as my inspiration, she was also standing in front of a brick wall so I incorporated that as well. She also has a wonderful singing voice- so she inspired the words as well.

She inspired others to climb high

This girl was inspired by a friend, who is leading a group of ladies on assorted hikes to better their heath. For this project my goal was to make a hat! If you are interested in the class I highly recommend it. You can find all the info here on Christy Tomlinson's website.

She started everyday with a smile

This week I am going to show you some projects that are not scrapbooking or card making but more of a art type project. I recently took an online class called She Art by Christy Tomlinson. I am so inspired by her and what she had to offer. This is the 2nd project I made (the 1st being some small pumpkins that I already packed up for next year's Thanksgiving decor) She is the 1st girl that I made and although she is good I was still learning.

Frame Chalk Board

This project was so simple, made in less than 30 minutes!  I used the My creations frame, one sheet of Clementine pattern paper, 1 sheet of chalkboard and one package of 3d flowers.
1. Attach patten paper to front of frame and sand
2. Glue chalkboard paper to the back of frame (I used Liquid glass)
3. Free hand cut assorted flowers from scrap paper.
4. Add cut flowers and 3d flowers. ( embellish with liquid glitter or rhinestones if desired)

Oversized 3D flower

I saw this flower in a magazine (I think the cricut magazine, but I am not sure) and wanted to try it! Mine ended up much larger that the one I saw- or they had a big card. Either way I like the flower. I used circle punches and curved one end. I then glued them to a base to create the flower.

more buttons

This card was inspired by this card. I am finding all kinds of uses for the Buttons, Bits and Bobs stamp set.
I don't know how many times I passed this 3d bow on the CTMH Artiste cartridge? Hundreds I am guessing...... I just now found it!!!! Be prepared to see more of it!!

Cute as a button Clear Card

Even though we don't sale clear cards anymore I have a small stock pile of them because I like to make them ever so often. For this one I used several different cuts from the CTMH cricut cartridges. I cut the button in the center of the flower and stamped it with the Buttons,Bits and Bobs set.  I also cut the flower and leaves as well.  For the chevron pattern I scanned the books until I found an image that I could cut down and make into "zig zags". The sentiment is stamped on one of the canvas shapes that goes with the Clementine paper.

Vintage Button Card

While surfing on Pinterest I found these great vintage looking button cards. The kind that buttons come on when you buy them at the craft store. I thought they would go wonderful with the Buttons, Bits and Bobs stamp set from CTMH. You can print your own button cards here.

3x3 encouragement

I was getting to the last little scraps of my Scholastic paper pack and I thought what better way to use it all up than with some 3x3 cards. These little cards are great for lunchboxes, a quick little gift or as a gift set to someone special.

Lucy Trailer Update

Several of you have asked me about the Trailer project, known as the Lucy Trailer. You can see more pictures and info about her here. **Most of these pics were taken with my phone, so they are not the greatest.
1st up I removed all of the thin wood covering all of the walls and seats. Then I removed so sticky faux tiles that the previous owner had installed. This was a back breaking job but worth it to get to the original floor.

The back wall of the trailer had a lot of water damage ( the ac unit was not installed well and water leaked around it.) My sister came one weekend and helped me replace the whole back wall about the ac.

As of today all of the wall, cabinets, drawers and the stove/oven have been repainted. Most of the aluminum on the inside has been polished. The fridge has been painted with chalk board paint. Vintage yellow knobs added to the cabinets and drawers. New breakers and wire for all the electrical stuff have been replaced, including plugs under the fridge so that I could inclose a couple of areas behind the table/seating area for more counter space.
Things that still need to be done is new lighting ( I have made my own chandaler that is super cute), the floor needs a good cleaning, cushions made for the table area and the back bench. And of course paint on the outside ( I may have to save more $$ before that gets done)
I am ready to be onto the decorating part of the project- all the fun stuff for the inside. I have been having lots of fun with the whole thing. I am glad all the labor part of it is over!

Over Thanksgiving new curtains were sewed and installed.
